Day 52: Having an Xmasy rest day

Day 52: Having an Xmasy rest day

As soon as December came, everything started getting a little bit complicated. Also it might be the fact that we have been together for just one week, and we needed to organize again a bunch of things at home (and start buying a few Xmas things too).

All these holiday things, including making Costa Rican Tamales last night with the family and also having to go out to look for presents, have been interrupting our daily rest and our sleep hours.

We were actually not planning on resting this week and just doing 6 straight training days and finishing our TRI on Saturday. That didn’t work very well and we had to take the day off today.

As usual, the rest day is for the training, but we always keep ourselves busy by looking for good material to learn and apply later…

Precisely about resting, we found these two great articles by active.com, the first one is about how Rest makes you stronger, while the second one is about What to do on rest and recovery days. We have found that active.com is probably our greatest and best source of exercise articles. This is why we continually post great stuff from them.

Make sure you are “resting” properly during your training plan. It is not about jumping to the couch to watch TV. It is about stretching, taking a nice light walk, easy swimming or biking, or any other activity that makes you feel good without pushing your body the way you would do during a training day. Do not confuse this either with light workout days… But don’t read it from us! Read it from the experts! Take 5 minutes of your day to read something that will help you the rest of your life. Enjoy…!
