Day 92: LOOK at that Elbow!
Calli- The swim was full of surprises and fun drills. It started out with x2 50′s of heads up freestyle which was tougher than I thought it would be. I was glad to be over with it. Another challenging drill is called fist freestyle. This is where you curl your hands into fists and you pull with your forearms. It’s a great drill to practice a proper pull down in freestyle. The video is some work Jose did on the weekend with his stroke technique. It’s beautiful isn’t it? I invite you to take a look at the progression videos. Happy fun time!
Jose- The swim was good tonight. If you remember, 90 days ago I was not able to swim past 300 meters while Calli would do like 1000 meters in the same time. Nowadays she is still fast enough to finish 1000 meters 5-8 minutes before me, but I CAN do 1000 meters too!! The drills were very tough, especially the kicking ones. I keep feeling bad when I realize that my legs are completely worn out and my speed is very poor. Calli says that I need to get my legs used to moving in the water. What I think is that I’m definitely doing something wrong! Calli helped me to fix a couple of things by kicking with my legs closer one to the other (apparently I tend to swim with a big angle in between) and also with making sure that the movement is starting in the hip, not in the knee. About the video, I’m happy about the output. Still the breathing is clumsy, but I keep working hard on it every single pool day! Are you doing the same?
